And here come the butterflies . . .

Rest For The Wicked goes to my editor next week, after a final polish. Then it will go live – as an ebook and a paperback. A real book, one I can hold in my hands.

And now I need to take a deep breath – plus a few more. I would add in a shot of whiskey, if I drank.

I didn’t feel this nervous with my novella, or my (released this weekend) short. But this first novel has my stomach tied in knots.

The response from my beta readers has been – overwhelming. And I will admit, I cried a little over some of the positive comments. What was in my head ended up on the page – always a tough transition, though it does seem to get easier with practice. Loads of practice. :)

They also gave me wonderful ideas, and pointed critiques that have only made the story better, deeper, richer. I am so grateful for their feedback, and the friendships I am developing because of our exchanges.

So, my baby is going out in the world, after being nurtured and dressed up a nicely as I can make her. What will I do now?

Send her on her way, do what I can to chase away the butterflies in my stomach, and keep writing.

Thank you for letting me break out in a cold sweat. It has really helped.

How do you all deal with new book nerves? We can gather around and offer support, a much-needed laugh, a kind word.

Have yourselves a fab weekend, and until next time – write on.

    • Thank you, J! Since you have recently gone through this process, I will rely on your advice. Isn’t the cover fabulous? I adore my artist, and Nick at Everything Indie hit the cover design the first time out. Thank you for all your support – it is so appreciated.
